Consistency

Todays email is sparked by a couple of conversations I've had recently, which kinda made me realise that sometimes people misunderstand what I mean when I talk about being 'consistent'...

In past emails, I've wrote about the importance of showing up every day, and how TAKING ACTION increases motivation and helps build momentum towards achieving your goals.

And it's here where I see a lot of my friends and family get tripped up ☹️

It's because they’ve mistaken 'consistency' for 'perfection' and believe that that in order to get results, they have to do a whole lot of unsustainable things 100% of the time.

Thankfully, that's just not true for most people and it's definitely not how successful long term change happens.

Now, don't get me wrong, the more consistent you can be, the faster you will see results, that's a no brainer, but the fact remains that changing your body does not require 100% consistency!

What does this mean? It means if you want to make a change, you need to reframe your perception of what's necessary and start making things simpler.

So if I could give you just one bit of advice, it'd be to stop trying to be perfect, and just pick a couple of things you can easily do EVERY WEEK, and then do those things CONSISTENTLY. Then, if needed, build on these things.

For example, you could start with increasing your daily steps, by having a better breakfast, or swapping out a high calorie snack for a lower calorie one. Whatever you choose, make it easy, do it for a week or two and then make another small change, and continue adding new habits
