Being Decisive and Taking Action

Over the last few weeks, the topic of procrastination has come up quite a few times in the studio, so for this weeks email I thought it might be helpful to share some thoughts on how you can overcome procrastination.

If you're anything like me, you might find yourself putting off certain tasks until the very last second.

Take this email for example, my original plan was to send this out last week, but I just wasn't happy with the way it sounded, so rewrote it a few times, and then never got round to sending.

Believe me when I say I understand just as much as anyone how frustrating and debilitating procrastination can be.

Thankfully, as it turns out, one way to overcome procrastination is simply to take decisive action.

You may remember from a previous email, last October, how taking imperfect action can create motivation and help build momentum. And I can tell you from experience that I’m much more creative, productive and successful when I stop dwelling on things and just take action.

So just do it. And don’t look back.

This is not to say you should be haphazard or erratic in your decision making. Quite the contrary.

Evaluate all the options, pick the one that serves you best, and take action.

There's a saying that goes something along the lines of, "Imperfect action is ALWAYS better than perfect inaction"

And this seems to be true across most aspects of our lives. In the past when David and I have been more decisive and taken action, the studio grew faster, which in turn gave us the opportunity to have a positive impact on more people, and perhaps more importantly, have a bigger impact on each one.

Have you ever been at a stage of your life when you woke up one day and wondered how you’ve managed to stay in an unhealthy job or toxic relationship for so long?

Doing nothing means that nothing changes. So if you want better for yourself, you have to be better and make a conscious effort to act faster.

This can apply to your health and fitness.

I can’t tell you how many people have told me over the years, that they wanted to get fit, lose weight, join a gym etc but never do.

It’s about the same number of people who’ve told me, “I really need to go on a diet,” but never do.

So if you’re training with us now, think back to the moment when you decided to do that.

Did you hesitate? Procrastinate? Wait for the “perfect time?”

Or did you just start?

On that note, it's worth taking a second to pat yourself on the back and celebrate how huge it is that you made that decision, took that action, and are still going strong. It’s rare.

If you’re not training or aren't currently taking steps to improve your health and fitness, ask yourself what are you waiting for?

I can't emphasise enough that he perfect time will never come and your circumstances will never change if you don’t take action.

And you’ll be amazed by how many positive things and people you’ll attract when you take powerful, decisive action.

So I’m not going to ask if you’re ready, because being ready isn’t a prerequisite for success.

You’re not going to be ready until you decide to act.

Whatever you decide to do, do it fast. Be decisive. And don’t look back💪.

And as always, if you're not sure where to start, please don't hesitate to reach out to us
