This morning, I thought we'd share one of the of the habits that I've been focusing on lately that's been really helpful.
This habit being.... To Win Monday 🏆
That's it, just win the day!
You may have heard the phrase, 'If you in the morning, you win the day'. And one thing a lot of our members have told us, especially since coming out of lockdown, is that on the days when they train in the morning, they find that they're more optimistic, have better energy and are more productive throughout the rest of their day.
Which is great, and here at Polaris Fitness we think the same thing can apply to the week as a whole.
Personally, I've found that when I have a productive Monday, it sets the tone for the rest of the week. Whereas, I've found that if I have a sluggish, unproductive Monday, it can be really tough to break that pattern and I end up putting certain tasks off until the following week, not accomplishing all the things I want to.
This email being a perfect example. I planned to write this on Sunday and send out yesterday and here I am this morning playing catch up 😣
So if you’re looking to get a fresh start, get back into a routine, or create some momentum, we think winning Monday is a great place to start.
So with that in mind, here are some simple strategies that you can start implementing right away...
Sunday Ritual - Plan Your Week: If you go into Monday without a plan, I don’t want to say you’re planning to fail … but that’s basically what’s happening. Set some goals and benchmarks for the upcoming week every Sunday.
Schedule your workouts for the week and block out the time in your diary. Prep your protein and veggies for the first few days of the week. (Remember the last email, both success and motivation come from action, and the first step in taking action is to plan what actions you’re going to take.)
Nightly Ritual - Plan The Next Day: Block out the non negotiable times when you’re busy, whether it’s work meetings, your commuting time, or picking up/dropping off the kids, and plan your tasks around these
When I’ve done this consistently, I’ve been amazed at how much time is left over to get stuff done. Once you see the time you have available, you can schedule your training as well as other tasks and make a commitment to yourself to get them done.
And Finally, Be Careful Not To Overcommit: Just a little warning that sometimes too much of a good can be bad, especially when it comes to planning.
One way to sabotage your Monday is to give yourself too much to do and not be realistic about what you can actually do in the time that’s available to you. If you always find yourself saying how busy you are, or how there’s never enough time, this could be one of the reasons you feel this way.
This may sound a little silly, but if you give yourself two tasks to do and complete both of them, it'll feel like you've won the day. Whereas, if you give yourself 10 tasks and only manage to complete two, it'll feel like a failure.
So let’s get out of the habit of dreading Monday and set ourselves up for success instead. Plan ahead, schedule your workouts, and be realistic. Winning beats failure any day but especially on Monday 💪
